Lorelei & Jack - A Picturesque Leelanau Wedding at Summer's End - 9/7/19

Chloe Leach September 26, 2019

When a lifelong relationship begins in an epic debate, you know there are great things to come.

One ordinary day, nearly at the end of her 6 month subscription to CatholicMatch.com and not planning to renew it, Lorelei scrolled through several profiles of prospects. None of these really interested her, until she came across one particularly detailed, elaborate profile. In his description, this man described his ideal woman. Someone who loves lazy Saturdays. Check. Someone who loves to watch Disney movies, and debate which one is best. Here, in parentheses, he had noted that the Lion King is obviously the best. Lorelei, being a Disney fan herself, already had a strong opinion as to what Disney movie was objectively the best - clearly, it was Tangled.. With mild amusement and low expectations, Lorelei penned a message to this presumptuous stranger. “You are wrong. The best Disney movie is Tangled”. Once the message had been sent, she finished reading his profile and logged off.

Several days passed before Lorelei logged on again. When she did, she was surprised to see a response to her message. The owner of the profile, Jack, had composed a complex response (complete with calculated rebuttals and bullet points), as to why she was decidedly wrong in her assertion. He seemed dedicated to educate her It was then and there that Lorelei was captivated. Many months later, Jack would tell her his side of the story.  The typical messages he received would begin by introducing themselves, followed by some standard invitation to further conversation. Lorelei’s message stood in stark contrast to these others. While Jack thought that she would just laugh off his detailed response, Lorelei rose to the challenge and sent back her own rebuttals in equal detail and earnest. She had got his attention. The topic remains an unsettled debate to this day, but it certainly served a great purpose in bringing them together! A month after this online exchange, the pair of them decided to meet up in New Hampshire over Christmas. After 3 days together, they both knew they had found “the one”. It was another two years later, on St Patrick’s day, that Jack proposed.

On September 7th, Lorelei got dressed in the same lace gown that her mother and grandmother wore on their own wedding days. After two years of long distance relationship with an ocean between them, Lorelei and Jack happily welcomed the beginning of a new life together, and the joining of their two families. …”and the two shall become one flesh; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate. Mark 10:8-10

Briana & Kit - A Beach Wedding in Traverse City, Michigan

Chloe Leach July 19, 2018

Sometimes, the greatest blessings in life come out of the hardest circumstances.

Kit and Briana became that unexpected blessing to each other the day their paths met, and a steady source of renewed hope and joy for one another. Their first meeting came in September of 2016, after a mutual friend set them up for a date. They spent the afternoon hiking with their dogs and enjoying one another's conversation. They would soon discover how many separate occasions they'd been in the same place at the same time, as far back as an 8th grade dance! The connection was strong and the hikes continued over the course of the next year. Kit joined Bri and her family on a Christmas trip to Florida in 2017, carrying something small and sparkly along with him. It was over family dinner one night, earlier than he'd planned, but seizing the perfect moment, that Kit made his proposal to the love of his life.

6 months later, on a similarly balmy day back home in Northern Michigan, Kit and Briana read their vows to one another on the beach along Grand Traverse Bay. With their toes in the sand, and surrounded by their closest friends and family, it was truly a beautiful start to a great new chapter for both of them.

Caitlin & Lawrence - A Medieval Wedding Celebration Under the Harvest Moon - Grand Traverse Resort & Spa, October 5th

Chloe Leach October 11, 2017

"May they be to each other both strong and gentle.
May all who follow their lives with interest and affection have cause to rejoice not alone in their happiness, but in their brave and generous living which makes life beautiful and significant.”  Áine Minogue, A Celtic Wedding

Caitlin and Larry are two souls from a bygone era, and the love they share is one for the ages. Their story began in 2010, when a significant friendship formed during their time working together in the same banquet kitchen. 7 years later, on the rolling green hills of this same special place, the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, Caitlin and Larry began their lives together as one. Under a towering oak bathed in warm rays of autumn sun, surrounded by the love of those dearest to them, they exchanged sacred vows. In true medieval fashion, the celebration continued late into the evening over a bounty of rich food, lively games on the lawn, and roaring fires.

"Look and think before opening the shutter. The heart and mind are the true lens of the camera."

― Yousuf Karsh

“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.”
― Ansel Adams

“All photographs are memento mori. To take a photograph is to participate in another person’s mortality, vulnerability, mutability. Precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it, all photographs testify to time’s relentless melt.”
― Susan Sontag
